Workshops and Presentations The Social Justice Committee offers a series of popular and highly engaging workshops focusing on topics such as Third World debt and trade. Led by experienced speakers, these workshops provide an excellent opportunity to discuss and learn about these challenging issues. New Workshop: Food Crisis or Trade Crisis? Book Now!Despite the abundance of food in the world today nearly one billion people are hungry. Through discussion on the history of global trade, this interactive workshop explores the structural causes of global hunger and what we can do to make a difference. The SJC is also proud to announce its newly updated “The Price of Guatemalan Gold” (in English and French) on corporate social responsibility in the Canadian mining industry. Did you know that Canadian companies make up 60% of all mining activity in the world? Using the example of the Marlin mine in Guatemala, the presenter will lead a discussion on the impacts of Canadian mining globally. Come learn about human rights, the environment and how Canadians can make a difference.
All SJC presentations are free of charge, but donations are greatly appreciated. Please contact Leah Gardner at the Social Justice Committee to book a presentation for your group: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ; (514) 933-6797.
